Biography

Kindra Fehr has spent a large portion of her life painting, traveling, and working in a variety of seemingly unrelated jobs. These included: contact lens technician, flight attendant, bookseller, waitress, or in what seems to have become a career, the teaching of art to all ages and abilities.

She was born in Salt Lake City, spent her elementary years in Arvada, Colorado then returned to her place of birth with frequent sabbaticals to places like Europe, Asia, Nepal, and the east coast. She began painting at age 15 under the direction of Bonnie Posselli, Dan Baxter, and Ken Baxter. She earned a BFA in drawing/painting from the University of Utah in 1990, has studied at the Lacoste School of the Arts in France, and has exhibited her work nationally and internationally.

In her current incarnation, Kindra paints out of her studio in Sugarhouse, teaches art privately, at the Visual Art Institute, and through outreach programs. She is married to musician/composer John Hancock and has two children.
